Newstead Open Studios 2018

In 2018, another wonderful Open Studios experience. Again local artists opened their hearts and their studios, and together we created a guide and map, put up flags and signs, contacted friends and locals. At Place Matters, Michael Rigg, a Castlemaine artist, joined me. His work is inspired by the songs of the earth – its landforms, landscapes and the poetry of the past and present. Our work was well matched in theme and passion.

My work focused again on water – Rain Series emerged – forms thrown and altered, washed with terra sigillata, marked by the splash of rain drops on dusty soil, open, catching the rain and letting it flow through, into the dry of this flinty Djarra Country.

In contrast, small hollow balls, gleamed with the intense blue of water, tiny pools of glaze.
