George (Georgina) Duckett was part of my 2019 open studio, displaying her small sculptures and paintings. She described her work as: ‘These images are determined by circumstance and mark a personal return to another beginning and the business of rendering. My sole criterion for success is – have they created space? Has the mental chatter stilled whilst drawing? Is there space in the image and do those spaces speak with a voice equal to object?’

The work I had on display was familiar: continuing past series of work, some function (bowls, flasks, yunomi) and sculptural.
